Patty's Ponderings

QUESTION for the day: Can a virus damage your hardware, in particular your hard drive?
Usually not, and usually one of two cases has occurred:
1. Your flash bios is infected/erased, and must be replaced, or if possible, reflashed before the machine will work.
2. Your Master Boot Record or sector 0 is overwritten or corrupted, which will cause your hard drive not to be recognized. Often this is recoverable, although recovering the data can be extremely difficult and/or expensive.

But it CAN be so the answer is, well, yes.
"In August 1996, the Hare software virus made news around the world. The virus was set to execute its payload on Aug. 22, 1996. Hare gained notoriety partly because of its damaging payload (which would destroy the hard drives of the machines it had infected) and its sophistication (it is a polymorphic and encrypting stealth virus)...." paragraph 2.3.6

BC: Playing games again. I don't mean to, but when somebody plays me I try to figure out the game and play along. I wonder if you get as confused as I do. Reading and writing aren't the same as talking, and talking is often misunderstood. The body language says little boy, the words say macho man trying to impress me, the typing can sound ugly or hurt. When I don't play the game, or try, you seem to think I'm mad or something. I don't know. Guess I'm just not cut out for anything other than straightforward face to face.

Another thing I'm thinking about today.... Why is it that I think nobody else has done anything to hide? I feel like a hypocrite when I worship, yet don't feel that way about others. Dad says not just forgiveness, but cleansing is needed. He says it takes away the temptation. At least that's what I think he said. I'm not tempted anymore, but still have remorse for some times past when I didn't live up to the possibilities. Preacher said not to think about them, but to just go on from here. Am I bad for who I was years ago? When do you stop being "bad" when things are in your past?

So, another day, and another image link map. Kinda fun.

I was on tv today, one of the court shows. Don't know if I should exactly go into it, but, ummmm... clue: "I LIKE helping people."

Judith, hi! and thanks for stopping by. You know I'll never get to visit you in AZ. I tried to explain to you why, but you don't seem to get it about Sierra Vista. It's a long story, but it gets longer.

Here is a picture of something that made me smile today. (Credits on picture) He isn't Bill, and the smile on my face is for a much different reason. heh!

I'm kinda glad to have a little time to try some things. I made my own image link map today. Not a big thing for some of the mnid folk, but something new for me, and a kinda new look to the front page.

I learn something new every day. Usually several things. Somebody said that's what keeps me so young. Probably my mother. (Hi, Mom! You're pretty young yourself, you know!) Smart lady that.

I keep thinking in reference to the WTC tragedy, that somewhere I heard a Bible story where somebody said how evil a person/country must have been for God to have punished them so (maybe Job, maybe Sodom and Gomorrah, who knows?) and the prophet or the Lord said not to wonder what evil the other person/country did to cause God's wrath, but rather to be giving thanks that God had spared that person/country. We can't find it in the Bible, so must have been from a Sunday School teacher or preacher's sermon one time or another. If you figure it out, please email me.
