One machine required a mainboard (motherboard). Gateway solution? send them the machine, end user is not to replace the mainboard. It will cost $799.00 plus tax and shipping. Perhaps I would like to send it back and just spend that money purchasing a new Gateway?
I found a replacement board for $89.
Second machine requires an odd-sized fan. I email for part number so that I can order the fan. This machine is four years out of warranty.
response? Your machine is out of warranty. You must send it to us for repair and replacement of the fan, estimated cost $299.00 plus tax and shipping.
Second email thanking them for their time, but that I located a replacement fan for $12 and will be replacing it myself.
response? Gateway does not allow its customers to open the computer, and if I do, it will void my warranty. They are documenting my email.
hoo boy.
