This could happen for a number of reasons, including virus activity.
Without knowing more, the following will not hurt your machine, as long as you have the drivers available to reload.
Go into your device manager (system from control panel) and remove the devices with the yellow question marks.
Then check in your modems and see if there is anything extra there besides the modem you use.... if so remove them
When you reboot, your system may find the printer and sound automagically. If not, it may ask for your driver diskettes.
