Rebuilding the Breech in the Levee
Earthen Levee holds up better
Many homes are under roof but not yet repaired.
Yellow house is nearly ready; green house shows where roof was chopped through.
Typical Message to Loved Ones
A house that has been restored and beautified
FEMA trailers in front of homes in process of repair
Victim chopped through roof for help
These were in an affluent neighborhood
More FEMA trailers, homes in process and one finished.
How the concrete levee should have been done (with t-footers and riprap support)
New Orleans Skyline
Many strip malls remain deserted.
Salt Water covered the area and killed off trees.
The trees are being replanted, one by one.
David wondered, "Just what is Houpi?"
Snack time!

More work being done
Rescue Team markings
See the water line above the door?
Another victim escaped through the roof.
This should be cypress trees, but the canal let salt water kill them.
By the way, vacant lots used to contain homes too!
Can you see the water line on the brick building? Then look down the road!!!
Not just poor people were affected.
This is the Katrina Flood memorial. Blue posts indicate water levels.
Close up of Memorial sentiment.
Habitat for Humanity is also hard at work
I love the colors on these homes being built in the Musician’s Quarter.
This is the "not restored" side of the street.
Front view of the colorful homes
Most neighborhoods with people have at least one FEMA trailer on the block.
Baptist Crossroads sign and more homes under construction
Another view... notice the elevated living quarters.
