Okay, if you are on windows 98 you are able to look in here, because the virus (AS FAR AS IS KNOWN SO FAR) has not been genericized to work on win98 systems.
Maybe you are looking here to find out how to help clean the virus from somebody else's winXP or win2K machine:
NOTE: this is only how to get it out immediately, not how to keep you from getting it again!!! You still need to get the patch and firewall your machine and remove the system restore files--email me if you like for additional....
Okay, first thing, disconnect your machine from the internet (unhook the phone or modem cord)
Second, as soon as it comes up all the way, do the Ctrl Alt Del thingie and end the msblast.exe process. If you can't get this to work, you may have another virus as well, and you need to go to safe mode to complete the steps.
Third, go to regedit and search for msblast.exe When you find it, delete it. If you don't know what this means, you need help from somebody who does so you don't make your machine inoperable.
Fourth, do a search for msblast.exe on your system.... it will hide in your windows(winnt or whichever) system32 folder and also in your windows prefetch folder.
This is just to make your machine operable and will not prevent re-infection. Make sure you have the latest updates for your anti-virus and scan the entire machine and take all other precautions.
Good luck and good learning!
